About this Fundraiser
The Tawas Bay Ice Arena Skate-A-Thon – "Blades for Bucks" is more than a fundraiser.
It’s an investment in the future of youth hockey, figure skating, Learn to Skate programs, and year-round community recreation in Northeastern Michigan.
Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of local businesses, families, community members, and grant partners, the Huron Hockey & Figure Skating Association raised more than $250,000 last year to complete significant improvements to the Tawas Bay Ice Arena,
including:
• Insulating the arena to improve energy efficiency and reduce operating costs
• Renovating and upgrading the Zamboni room
• Expanding spectator seating for families and visitors
• Installing additional heating for enhanced comfort
• Creating a new VIP Viewing Box for special events and community partners
This year's Skate-A-Thon represents the final step in completing that vision. Funds raised through financial
sponsorships, individual pledges, and in-kind donations will help retire the remaining iMprovements.
ensuring that future dollars can be invested directly into youth programming, equipment, scholarships, facility maintenance, and continued growth.
Whether your contribution is a monetary sponsorship, a pledge, a raffle prize, products, services, or other in-kind support, every donation strengthens our programs and directly benefits the young athletes and families we serve.

By joining the Skate-a-Thon, you support ice time, equipment, and a safe, well‑maintained arena where beginners, rec skaters, and competitive players can all grow on the ice.
Skating will consist of 6 Hours of ice time with Games led by DJ – Food Trucks in the Parking Lot with Rink Concessions (serving only popcorn, soft-drinks and candy); Only Skaters will be allowed past the warming room to skate – all other spectators must remain inside warming room or outside with Food Trucks – each person will receive an entry wrist band participant/spectator
Donations/Pledges Minimum w/ Prizes
$50.00 Minimum Pledges to Skate for up to 6 hours
$150.00 = Open Skate Pass
$250.00 = Open Skate Pass + Free Tee Shirt (need T-shirt size)
$500.00 = Open Skate Pass + Free Tee Shirt + Free Private Lesson for Figure Skating or Hockey (to be scheduled with the Coach)
